A platform in the air must never roll — how the BREW wheel-flange motor drives a scissor lift and the ZDM normally-closed disc brake keeps it parked.
With workers elevated, a scissor lift’s drive system is a safety system: it must move precisely at ground level and hold absolutely still — by default, not by command — whenever pressure is absent.
Motor roles in this machine
- BREW — wheel drive: The wheel-flange orbit motor bolts the wheel directly to its output flange — a compact, robust drive for AWP platforms. BRE / BREW reference →
- ZDM — parking brake: Spring-applied, hydraulically-released disc brake (450–1,150 N·m brake torque). No pressure means fully braked — fail-safe by design. ZDM reference →
